NOSSA CHAPE

Jeff Zimbalist & Michael Zimbalist

NOSSA CHAPE is a fascinating, very well narrated and edited documentary about the rebuilding of
the Chapecoense football club in Brazil after an airplane carrying the team crashed in November
2016 on its way to the Copa Sudamericana in Colombia leaving all but three of the players dead.
The directors Jeff and Michael Zimbalist don't only track of what happened in the crash or the
collective grief of the community, but open a window to the individual process of grief and the love
of the surviving - their doubts and their feelings of guilt, but also their commitment and their hope
of returning to the field. Poignantly they show how different every individual person handles the
loss and that there is no right or wrong, but only acceptance and - hopefully- understanding and
support.

What makes this film so special to me is this universal insight of having to finally connect
humanistically for being able to handle such a tragedy. And that there is space for the pure and
honest moments which the surviving players and the widows share with us.
